House Of K
I am thrilled to present to you these sample jars of House of K’s initial product range. I’d
love for you to try these samples and share your thoughts on the texture, flavor, and overall experience of the product.
Every brand has a story, but some are born not just from ambition but from love,
mindfulness, and a deep connection to nature. House of K is one such brand a labor of
love conceived by me, a dreamer, a mother, and now, an ardent supporter and believer for conscious consumption.
As a mother, I was appalled by the ingredient lists on the food packages. It felt less like food and more like a chemistry experiment filled with colors, additives, trans fats, sodium, and preservatives. These packets lacked nutrition and only satisfied mood-driven hunger
pangs.
Standing in the brightly lit supermarket aisle, surrounded by plastic-wrapped packages, I
felt disconnected. Where was the link to nature and the people who grow our food? This
moment sparked a deep desire in me to create pure, nourishing food something I’d proudly share with my son, Ruhaan.
Like many caring parents, I scrutinized every label, worried about the harmful chemicals,
preservatives, and additives lurking in everyday foods. I knew there had to be a better way
to reconnect with the simple, wholesome goodness of nature. This awareness became my
tiny mission too:
• To eliminate harmful, chemical-laden foods from my family’s diet,
• Most importantly, create a food label that redefines quality, celebrates the authenticity of natural and safe ingredients, and indulges our taste buds simultaneously.
This personal quest led me on a soul-stirring trip in 2021 to the serene Kumaon hills of
Uttarakhand, during my puerperium. While we wandered through the lush forests and
quaint villages, I encountered inspiring women self-help groups creating pure, chemical
free handcrafted products using age-old traditions.
The air there was thick with the scent of pine and damp earth. I watched women, their hands weathered by years of work, carefully stirring pots of simmering fruit, using methods passed down through generations. I learned about traditional preservation techniques, using only natural ingredients and respecting the rhythms of nature. I knew then that this was the kind of food I wanted to create.
This trip not only awakened my love for natural foods but also sowed the seeds for House
of K. After over 12 years in the corporate world and after years of wanting to start something of my own which brings a value addition to people’s lives, I am taking this leap of faith to also pursue something I truly believe in. It is a decisive move, but one fueled by purpose to bring honest, ethical, and sustainable foods into people’s lives without compromising the palate.
House of K is more than just a brand; it’s a personal transition and a commitment to a
healthier future. Every product from House of K tells a story of care and craftsmanship,
starting from the ingredients sourced by these incredible women self-help groups of
Kumaon, to the finished food products cooked by them for the House of K, be it fruit
preserves, pickles, honey, health, immunity boosting herbs, health foods and related. Our
products are artisanal, handmade in small batches with love and respect for nature.
Considering all our products procured are marketed at fair prices, which is the key to
sustainable development for all stakeholders in the value chain, especially the local
farming community in the mountains.
We are committed to zero-waste practices with the use of traditional, natural preservation
methods. For us, this isn’t just about selling products; it’s about making a difference,
supporting local communities, promoting sustainable living, and nurturing health
conscious consumption.
Launching in February 2025, House of K is my way of bringing a slice of the Kumaon hills to your table. We’ve spent a couple of years developing our product range, building
relationships with our suppliers, and refining our processes to ensure the highest quality
and sustainability. Every jar will remind you a person, of a story of care, craftsmanship, and
connect you to the natural world where you have someone in your family who cooks or have cooked food for you using traditional methods, who didn’t have chemicals and only natural ingredients in their kitchen to save their food. But, yet quite palatable, quite preservable and apt for your health at the same time.
With lots of Love & Gratitude in my heart,
Kinjal MS
